Toybox Theatre (supported by Wellington Repertory) is returning to Wellington for another season! Toybox is a simplistic style of children’s theatre. It is roughly an hour-long show filled with audience interaction, laughs and fun!

This year’s show is called The Story of Hansel, Gretel and Little Red.
It centres around Red Riding Hood and Hansel (from Hansel and Gretel) who have Gretel and Granny kidnapped. They go on a jounrey to find them and meet some new and old favourite characters along the way!
Who we are looking for
To audition you need to be 18 years old or younger, as this is a youth production.
Audition details and preparation
You must book an audition time by completing the online audition form. The Audition Mgr will then be in touch to confirm your booking and finalise your audition time.
Auditions will be held in small groups. You will read some scenes and maybe even do some improv! There is no need for any prep work, just a case of turning up and being prepared for a bit of movement and reading.

Character Descriptions
There are 12 roles in the main cast. There will be well known fairy tales, fun stories or stories based off books in between each scene. You will audition for a main story role but also be expected to play roles in the in-between scenes too!

| Hansel | Male, any age. A main character, is in all scenes in the main story. |
| Gretel | Female, any age. A minor character in main story. |
| Little Red | Female, any age. A main character, is in all scenes in the main story. |
| Witch | Female, any age. All her lines rhyme. Mid to minor character in main story. |
| Wolf | Any gender, any age. A ‘cool surfer’ type vibe. Mid-minor character in the main story. |
| Granny | Female, age 15-18. Minor character in main story. |
| Toby | Any gender, any age, Main character (from scene 3), fun, loveable, sidekick. |
| Tinkerbell | Female, teenager. Sly, mean, deceiving character. A minor role. |
| Shazza | Male, any age – but comfortable to dress as a fairy in a dress. Able to do an Australian accent, loud, outgoing. |
| Sheila | Male, any age – but comfortable to dress as a fairy in a dress. Able to do an Australian accent, loud, outgoing. |
| Gorgonoth/Helper gnome | Any gender, below 13 years of age. Evil villain (helper gnome tricks people into thinking they’re nice), mid role (in half of the scenes). |
| Narrator | Any gender, any age. Warms up the audience, good with improv, lively, fun, on stage most of the show but only speaks at the beginning of each scene. |
